In keeping with the IndiaFacts credo of presenting and checking facts and reintroducing decency in public discourse, we are delighted to announce the introduction of a new feature entitled History Quarry.
History Quarry will be a repository of both little-known and forgotten facts and episodes primarily related but not limited to Indian history. There is no specific periodicity as such because given today’s age, history can easily be defined as something you tweeted just ten hours ago. What determines the episodes selected here is their significance with regard to public discourse. Put another way, History Quarry is an endeavour to constantly remind ourselves of the eternal wisdom of Santayana words that those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
As with the IndiaFacts Fact Meter, our History Quarry will serve as a useful reference as well as a watchdog against distortions of history. As always, IndiaFacts readers are invited to contribute to this section with rare and hidden episodes of history by sending an email to the following address:
