A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves

On the occasion of India’s 68th Independence Day it is worth recalling what the Congress did during its time in power.

Act 1

Let me tell you a story about an old man who lived in a small village somewhere that does not matter. It all began when the man’s sons came to him and told him that some people from the neighboring village had stolen a chicken from their farm. The old man told his sons to go after the thieves and recover the chicken.

The sons said, “Father, it’s only one chicken. We have hundreds of chicken. One won’t make a difference.” The old man said, “Do what you please.”

A few days later, the thieves stole a goat. Once again the old man told his sons to not let them get away with it. The sons said that they have dozens of goats and it’s not worth the trouble. The next week it was a horse. Once again the sons rationalized it away saying that they still had six horses that the farm needs.

Finally, the next week the sons came back to report to the old man and said, “Father, our sister has been abducted. What shall we do?” The old man said, “It’s too late. You should have recovered the chicken. Now there’s nothing you can do.”

Act 2

I heard this story from an expat from New Zealand who runs a very successful school in Singapore. David told me that in the early years of Lee Kuan Yew’s government, a minister was suspected of having taken a bribe. People said that since the minister was a close associate of LKY, in all likelihood the man would get away with it.

But as it happened, LKY had a brief chat with the minister one afternoon. The next day the minister went out with a bang — he put a bullet in his head.

Singapore is one of the least corrupt nations in the world. LKY’s policy is simple: zero tolerance for corruption. That’s so because he himself is incorruptible and therefore does not tolerate corruption. The wages of public corruption is death. People know it and act accordingly.

Act 3

India’s appointed prime minister was Dr Manmohan Singh. Under his watch, the most egregiously blatant instances of public corruption have taken place. His ministers and other office holders have been involved in acts of public malfeasance that are stunningly incredible — but for at least a significant segment of Indian voters, it is quite alright. They appear to take it as if it’s nothing out of the ordinary. The rulers are going about the rape of the land and the people just lay back and supinely accept it.

i

We are talking figuratively about rape but Dr Singh’s misgovernance has descended into literal rape. Not just rape, gang rape. Not just gang rape, it has finally hit (one hopes) the rock bottom into murderous gang rape.

The 23-year old woman who was gang raped in a New Delhi bus died in a hospital in Singapore.

Act 4

They first stole a chicken.

The Congress government under Jawaharlal Nehru was involved in corruption. The newspapers reported it. Nehru responded saying that the reporters were being silly since corruption is a global phenomenon and there’s nothing to get all excited about. Then they stole a goat.

Nehru’s daughter nationalized many sectors of the economy, thus making public office attractive to the most criminally corrupt. The people of India did not disapprove. They in fact voted her back to power.

The stage was set for horse thieves.

Act 5

Some people started waking up to the reality. They realized that somehow the system was not working. They heard the call from a chosen few and gathered to register their protest. The government followed the time-worn strategy of attack being the best form of defense. They sent in their baton-wielding cops and the crowds — leaders too — beat a hasty retreat.

The lesson the appointed prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s government learned was that it does not take a whole lot to put the people in their place — the place of course being that the people in the government are the rulers and the people are serfs.

For around a century, a few hundred million Indians were the serfs of a few thousand British. Now it is different. India is under self-rule.

An Italian, Antonia Maino aka Sonia Gandhi, and her bunch of sycophants led by Digvijaya Singh ruled about a thousand million Indians for a decade destroying the economy and the destinies of millions of Indians.

i

Well, perhaps it is not all that different. Though Maino’s father was a fascist. That could make the British Raj 2.0 a little more vicious than the British Raj of pre-1947.

* * *

Act 6

It tickles me no end when I hear talk about India being a free country and a democracy with universal adult franchise. Every adult has the vote and therefore is in some sense responsible for the kind of government they get. In my opinion, India is a kakistocracy — government by the most corrupt and the least principled. Indians freely elect these people. And among the elected are criminals who have been charged (and many convicted) of rape and murder.

The people who gang raped the unfortunate woman on the bus in New Delhi two years ago share at least some of the characteristics of the law makers of India: their criminality. A significant numbers of Indians vote for these kinds of criminals.

* * *

Act 7

There’s more. The despicably dishonest appointed Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s government moved to shut down protests in New Delhi by closing down a few metro train stations. Perhaps the people will back down and go home.

If they hadn’t backed down, I suppose the appointed Prime Minister Dr Singh would probably escalate the situation till we see army tanks on the streets of New Delhi.

The sister has been abducted.

And if I were a betting man, I would place the bet that the people are not going to do anything about it.

* * *

Act 8

Although they have lost power, Sonia Gandhi and her gang of vile henchmen remain unprincipled criminals. But they are not stupid. Their moves are calculated to push the boundaries and they know precisely what they can get away with. They know precisely how much they can steal and yet be elected. They know precisely how many backs they can break with their police lathi-charge and still the people will not lynch them.

Indians have an amazing capacity for tolerating injustice.

It was an American, born a slave but who understood the dynamics of slavery, who put it best over a century ago. Frederick Douglass (1818 – 1895), the renowned American abolitionist wrote, “Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them . . . The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.”

i

The rulers are not unintelligent. They would not be where they are if they were not the most accomplished criminals. They make the laws. They dictate the terms. They control the press. The press provides the cover for them and they in turn protect those in the press that do their bidding. The Ghoses, the Sardesais, the Dutts — these are not unimportant players in this sordid play. They are complicit in the figurative rape of India and are handsomely rewarded for their immorality.

* * *

The Final Act

Every single time an outrage has occurred under Congress’ watch, for a few days the twitterati will be screaming murder. A few thousand will go on candlelight vigils. In a few weeks, another distraction will occupy the talking heads on TV. Cricket will take over the collective psyche. And of course the sordid stories of Bollywood shakers will move the public to other concerns.

Talking of journalists, I am reminded of what the legendary American radio broadcaster Edward R Murrow (1908 – 1965) said: A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves.

images

Yes, India did have a government of wolves for the better part of its post-Independence history because India is a nation of sheep even under the changed political circumstances. Although there’s a new leadership with many positives and forward-looking policies to its credit, a fundamental change in the collective Indian psyche must ensue for these policies to have an enduring impact.

I am very clear in my mind. India’s enemies have ruled India SINCE 1947.
India is sick. Very, very sick. Mainly because the majority of Indians
have been kept for sixty five years as illiterate, starving,
defecating-in-the-open vote fodder who swallow the propaganda that
passes for History and serve their predators. India was far better off
in every way under the British in 1946, despite having been through two
world wars, than it is now. It was better off than Germany, Japan,
Singapore and even Sub Saharan Africa in 1947! Today, Sub Saharan Africa
is better off than India on the “Human Development Index”! Africa, was
my territory (Head Quartered at Nairobi) from 1995 to 2000. India has a
long way to go to catch up with them. When Manmohan Singh said (in 2007)
that Bombay and Delhi had better infrastructure than Singapore, most
Indians believed him. BECAUSE, they had not been to Bombay, Delhi OR
Singapore. I have. I know better. India’s rulers have been frauds since
    inception

The Stalinst Social and Capital engineering Indian
Constitution is a classic example of George Orwell’s “Animal Farm”.
India is rapidly returning to what it was before the British were seen
on its Horizon. The British Empire in India was built, by and large,
from a rotting landscape of petty robber rajas and rapist sultans with a
“fair play” that earned the trust and support of honourable Indians and
which became the “Rule of Law” after 1857. There were exceptions.
Dalhousie and Gough, or General Dyer that the Congress Wallas have made
much more of than necessary to justify their own loot and rape of India.
Given the technology of the day, the Bengal famine deaths were not all
that bad compared to, say, the Irish potato famines or the Locust
famines of Africa and the USA. More than half of India’s population are
living, today, in conditions of “starvation” according to studies
conducted by the UN and Oxfam. (While enormous quantities of food grains
in the custody of Govt and paid for at my expense rot and some 2,400
crores of food grains intended for those earning below Rs 30 per day
(bpl) were sold by the Neta Babus to Bangla Desh for money into their
personal accounts. God knows how many thousands of Crores of such
malfeasance is yet to be discovered).

More Indians have been killed by
police and military action as also inaction during the last sixty five
years than the previous 300. Just a few years ago, 12,000 Crores worth
of jewellery went “missing” from the “Secular” Govt managed and operated
Tirupati temple. The Congress Rulers of Andhra Pradesh tried to fix the
blame (unsuccessfully) on the priests whose sanctity was violated by
the Police in this process. The jewellery and their thieves have not
been found since and might have left in the 25 suitcases that, without
inspection or hindrance, flew in an Indian aircraft with a VVIP for
medical attention to the US via Italy. Post 1947, Honours are given to
film stars and politicians at Tirupathi rather than to learned Brahmins
in direct contravention of the Agama Shastras that govern the
methodology of Temple construction, rituals and worship. A liquor baron
was appointed as the President of the TTD, who, with his politician
cronies, was seen cavorting with prostitutes atop the Hill by a cousin
of mine who has sworn never to go to Tirupati again. Compare this with
Sir Thomas Munro who translated all the rock carved grants from ancient
Kings, and formally registered the land holding of Tirupathi, declaring
the Lord to be a person capable of owning land, in a manner that made it
impossible for the post 1947 bandits to steal away as they have most
temple lands in the Non Moslem parts of India (such as Tamilnadu,
Kerala, Andhra and Karnataka) for their cronies. (This is what prompted
    the Kesavanada Bharathi case (http://en.wikipedia.org/…/Kesavananda_Bharati_v._State…)
that preserved some tattered remnants of “democracy” for Indians from
the ugliness of our ruling scum). This is one of the reasons why
Tirupathi was the wealthiest shrine in the World well before
    Independence.

Compare this with Lord Curzon who when invited to steal
the lamp in the sepulchre called Taj Mahal, sent his aide-de-camp around
the World to find it spair that hangs there to this day and founded the
Archeological Survey of India and stopped the loot that has commenced
in 1947. Or, when invited by the Nawab of Junagadh to shoot the last
seven Asiatic Lions, declared them “protected and founded the Zoological
Survey of India. Seventeen Rhinos were poached for Chinese aphrodisiacs
in China in April 2013. The Diamond Crown of the Melkote Temple, that
had survived the depredations of Tipu Sultan was stolen, seven years ago
from the “Secular” (Congress) Govt managed and operated temple. It will
never be seen again. It is a good thing that the Kohinoor remains with
the British. At least I can see it, from time to time at the Tower of
London. If it had been returned to India, it would have vanished in
small pieces into a Bank Vault in Italy or Switzerland.

    What the Iyengar
Jayalalitha, that Sikh lawyer KTS Tulsi, the Moslem Magistrate of
Kanchipuram and the Judge of the Madras High Court did to the
Shankaracharya ten years ago would have been unimaginable during
British Rule-of-Law. They arrested him, threw him in jail, refused him
Bail and lectured him, in full view of the Press and TV Cameras about
his own scriptures to humiliate him and the hapless “jews” (Iyers) of
Tamilnadu, until. finally, after a year in jail, the Supreme Court
granted him bail after asking KTS Tulsi this as yet unanswered question,
    “Where is the evidence”?

    Consider
the retreat from Daulat Beg Oldie, that India’s Air Craft Carrier, INS
Vikramaditya has been with Russia ever since its was paid for twenty years ago,
and the Light Combat Aircraft has been a myth for even longer and will be
obsolete before it ever enters operations! Primarily, India has remained a navel
gazing nation without a clue about what happens elsewhere. India’s defence and
foreign policy remains frozen, doggedly, in time. If India was to fight in the
Second World War (Bangla Desh was a similar theater), India might do very well
with brute manpower enhanced with slightly more contemporary field arms. India
has not surfaced an effective threat perception from which to derive a lean and
mean fighting machine model towards which to move. Instead of re-engineering, it
is growing organically with most of its investments, costs, and ballasts in
maintaining the ornamental and the absurd of yester years. The teeth to tail
ratio has under gone a terrible degradation where India is almost all tail.
India created, under the home ministry, further ballast of large numbers of para
military forces ostensibly to man the borders, wage war on malcontent Indian
citizens and so on. The main motive though was the “Nehruvian” inferiority
complex driven suspicion of the military which was, in his day, led by British
educated and trained King’s Commissioned Officers who were far superior to his
pitiful Civil Servants and politicians like himself. The para military, the
Politican-Bureaucrat Nexus hoped, would provide them a bulwark against the
Indian Armed Forces. Today, the Para Military are woefully unfit for purpose and
it is the Indian Armed Forces that are called in to perform their duties,
whether it be quelling rebellion, protecting the borders or disaster relief,
rendering them even more unfit for purpose. India’s Armed Forces have been
rendered into an unfit for purpose para military equivalent, largely ornamental,
and expected to frighten away predatory neighbours like a scarecrow placed to
frighten away a swarm of locusts.

    People
will talk of Jallianwalla Bagh, but being “Secular” (i.e. Congress Rogues) they
will forget the thousands raped and killed in Delhi in 1984 for which Justice
may never be done, as it has not for Bhopal. The Hon’ble Home Minister of India,
the Sushil Kumar G Shinde Saheb told a jamboree of Congressmen not to worry
because coalgate will be forgotten just like Bofors was. Indian History and
narrative have been re-written to political convenience and the self
glorification of the Ozymandias of the day through out History but never so
shamelessly as in the criminal, despotic, Nehru-Gandhi-Ambedkar-Dravid
dispensation of the last sixty five years. Only in India would Parliament
intervene to censor approved, Government produced school text books and excise
Historical cartoons. The British Empire in India enunciated universal primary
and secondary education as a priority next only to the war efforts (Two World
Wars). Anglican Britain even encouraged Catholics to prosper for the education
that they would bequeath india. Princely States such as Travancore, Mysore, and
Baroda bench marked themselves with each other and European Countries to surpass
the Empire. This produced the thinking, ideas, and conception of liberty in
educated Indians that led to India’s independence. This must have weighed
heavily on the minds of India’s founding fathers and, most particularly, the
Nehru-Gandhi-Ambedkar confectioners of India’s “Animal Farm” Constitution and
the Congress Party, because, post independence (1947), primary and secondary
education other than available in private or christian schools were
systematically dismantled. This has paid rich dividends to India’s ruling elites
who have managed to wallow in crime and corruption with impunity and without any
serious backlash from the starving, defecating-in-the-open,illiterate majority
vote fodder that they nurture to keep themselves in power and pelf for sixty
five long years. Though there are cosmetic, totalitarian moves (such as the
confiscation of 25% of the seats in private education for the “poor” by a
typically insane Indian Law in 2012) ), there is no way the current dispensation
will tolerate wide spread education in India as it threatens the very source of
their rights to rapine and plunder.

    India
is sick. Very, very sick. Mainly because the majority of Indians have been kept
as illiterate, starving, defecating-in-the-open vote fodder who swallow the
propaganda that passes for History and serve their predators.

Good article but we would like to know some suggestions about possible steps the public might take to build up this psyche….as for example is there something in our philosophy, culture, society, history, traditional laws etc. that we can rediscover and mobilize to produce points of national reference -where the common man can rally under proper banners to produce a critical mass-a quoram that can morph mass discontent into mass consciousness…..please elaborate….thanks in advance to the author and thanks to the learned colleagues who will come across my post…..
