Circular Firing Squad of Flying Attack Monkeys Target Rajiv Malhotra
Note: To those of you that are aware of the background of our relationship with Rajiv Malhotra, we would like to reiterate our commitment to protecting our Dharma from all forms of attacks and hence this piece finds an unhesitating place on our platform.
An old legal aphorism advises young lawyers that ‘If you have the facts on your side, pound the facts. If you have the law on your side, pound the law. If you have neither on your side, pound the table.’
When you see someone furiously pounding the table, you’d be justified in thinking that he has taken that advice too seriously, and conclude that neither the facts nor the law are on his side.
The fact is that in any battle — of wits or muscle, figurative or real, defensive or offensive — one leads with the best device at one’s disposal. In desperate situations, clutching at straws may be the best one can do when one is in over one’s head and lifeboats are missing. That clichéd image comes to mind seeing the recent charges of plagiarism against Rajiv Malhotra.
For those who are not familiar with Malhotra, he’s the author of ‘Breaking India,’ ‘Being Different’, and other books. Wikipedia notes that he’s an ‘Indian-American author and Hindu activist who, after a career in the computer and telecom industries, took early retirement in 1995 to found The Infinity Foundation. Through this organization Malhotra has promoted philanthropic and educational activities in the area of Hinduism studies. Malhotra has written prolifically in opposition to the academic study of Indian history and society, especially the study of Hinduism as it is conducted by scholars and university faculty, which he maintains denigrates the tradition and undermines the interests of India.’
I know Rajiv Malhotra and have deep respect for him. I am convinced that he is a serious seeker of knowledge and understanding. I know him sufficiently well to be absolutely certain of his integrity, his commitment to scholarship, his dedication to the cause of engaging ‘the other’ in serious discussion, his principled challenge to all to engage in purva-paksha: ‘a tradition in dharma discourse [which involves] building a deep familiarity with the opponent’s point of view before criticizing it.’
Even to me, a lay reader and an outsider to his area of investigation, his competence is clear. But domain experts too attest to his diligence and expertise. I urge you to read some of the reviews of his book ‘Being Different: An Indian Challenge to Western Universalism.’ Quote:
In this substantial work Malhotra explores a variety of topics inherent to Indic culture and worldviews. He reflects on many aspects of the Hindu world. His goal is not only to dismantle misconceptions, but also to formulate a new paradigm for intercultural discourse. . . . Malhotra begins by referring to a number of his own personal encounters with Western scholars and individuals in conferences and elsewhere to let the reader know how, through means subtle and overt, Christianity and the West have been intruding into the sacredness and integrity of Indic culture. Not that many Indians are not aware of this, but this book gives it all raw and ruthless exposure. It unveils aspects of what it sees as Western hegemonic intercultural ruses that may not be as obvious to superficial observers. These revelations are sure to jolt both unwitting Indians who may have held Western civilization in high regard, as well as scheming Westerners who may feel awkward being caught.
So one may wonder, what accounts for the spurious charges of plagiarism leveled against him by his detractors? Paradoxically, the attempt to discredit Malhotra by silly accusations of plagiarism in essence gives indirect support to the fundamental solidity of his incisive arguments. His opponents have failed to counter his thesis and in their desperation have had to resort to serious harassments. Having neither the facts nor the analytical skills to counter the thesis, they are reduced to idiotically pounding the metaphorical table in their frustration. If charges of plagiarism is the best offensive weapon they have, they deserve pity and maybe even a little bit of sympathy.
To be quite frank, I have little time to waste on the trivialities that Malhotra’s opponents have published, such as the one by Sandip Roy at FirstPost on 15 July.
‘Not my monkey, not my circus‘ is my motto. Granted that the antics of the circular firing squad of flying attack monkeys (to borrow a phrase much favored by Prof Brad deLong) is an entertaining distraction but really, we do have real problems that need addressing. I will not waste time showing how vacuous their charge of plagiarism is. Others have done it. Malhotra has addressed charges, such as this one, “Rajiv Malhotra has a rejoinder to Andrew Nicholson” (July 18th). Besides, there is no need to elevate their inane nonsense by actually quoting them.
So am I wasting time writing this? Not at all. My primary motivation is to express solidarity with the cause that Rajiv Malhotra has been tirelessly engaged in for decades. He is one among that rare breed of intellectuals who are willing to challenge the orthodoxy where it is substantially wrong; an orthodoxy that is slavishly and uncritically accepted by those whose minds are still colonized by a narrowly conceived Western narrative designed to denigrate and devalue Indian contribution to human knowledge and understanding. Malhotra provides the serious, intellectually sound, necessary corrective pushback to that worldview. Which naturally gores their precious goat. That partly explains their fury and their animosity towards Malhotra.
My secondary motive for writing this is my belief that public discussions should be accurate, honest, decent and intelligent. To oppose those with an agenda to poison the well of public discourse is a sacred duty to me. If we don’t speak out against what we perceive to be false and malicious, how will we discover what is true and valuable? I stand with Edmund Burke, the Irish statesman and philosopher, when he wrote in 1770, ‘When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.’
The circular firing squad of flying attack monkeys (FAM) has chosen Rajiv Malhotra as its target. We must note that the target is the man, not his thesis, because the FAMs, having failed to counter his thesis, have been reduced to firing specious charges of plagiarism at Malhotra. But indirectly, we are also targets of their random acts of senseless shootings. By not opposing them, we tacitly acquiesce to their implicit demand that we bow and obey their paymasters. By using the word ‘paymasters‘ I grant them this much dignity that I don’t believe that they would so abjectly debase themselves without being paid for it.
These charges against Malhotra are a distraction, a tiny scuffle in a minor battle that doesn’t amount to a hill of beans in the larger context of the civilizational war that we are forced to be in.
I think I speak for a majority when I say that I’d like to be left alone, to live and to let live. But unprovoked opposition to us and our civilizational ethos has been a historical reality. It is also historically true that those who oppressed India had the help of Indians. Indians are also involved in this petty attack against India. This batch of Indian flying attack monkeys will disband but there can be no doubt that new batches will form and new targets identified. That is as certain as the fact that ultimately we will prevail.
May Shri Rajiv Malhotra’s tribe increase. Or more accurately I should say may our tribe increase, since I too belong to it.
This was first published on the author’s blog, Atanu Dey On India’s Development.

Most Western thinkers have always given Indian philosophy credit. Rajiv has not done adequate research or else lies blatantly. Please see this link – http://www.hinduwisdom.info/quotes1_20.htm, http://krishnabhakt.blogspot.co.uk/2010/10/cg-jung-on-india.html. There are many more on internet.
This means you don’t even know the problem of west’s humungous plagiarism of Indian knowledge. Are your numerals called Hindu numerals in western text books? Is the hypotenuse rule called Pythagorean or Baudhayana theorem? Is normal form in grammar called Backus-Naur or Panini normal form? Starting here, there are thousands of things that west boasts of, which are NOT its creations but simply learning. As for Nicholson, Malhotra is quite accurate in noting the review-reference racket in western academia that systematically tries to digest knowledge that is outside the western academia and brings it into the “system” through its own means of theft. The west that did not have rich knowledge tradition suddenly brought about a scientific and industrial revolution within 2 centuries after its direct contact with the eastern traditions, and after colonizing the west has science and east is in catch up mode. No honest human can call this massive theft anything other than theft. Western thinkers have “always” given Indian philosophy credit? They seldom did in proportion to what they took.
You need to stop jumping to conclusions. The argument is about whether Rajiv is following the rules of basic thesis writing. It is praiseworthy that he is fighting for Hinduism etc. etc. but then, so does a hero depicted as a goonda in Bollywood films. But is that the correct way? It is not about praising the West or criticising the East, but quite specifically Rajiv’s writing that I was commenting upon. I too have read info on contribution of Sanatan Dharma etc on sites such as http://www.hinduwisdom.info and many others. I too am a Hindu. So just chill! Rajiv has distorted the meanings of Astik and Nastik which are Sanskrit words. Is he not doing the same thing that the West did and continues doing? He has distorted the correct connotation of Ishtadev and says that according to him it is alright to accept Jesus as ishtadev. NO ITS NOT!!! One needs to think clearly and not follow blindly. Rajiv has been lucky that he had enough money to retire and fight for dharma. Does that mean that others who cannot afford to do so are either stupid or don’t care? It seems that’s what ‘high and mighty’ Rajiv thinks!
One should not get prejudiced by the fact that the ‘Western Chrisitian enemies’ have criticised Rajiv so everyone should blindly retaliate. If one thinks with a cool mind the fact remains that Rajiv has not used quote marks where required. One learns to do this at school! Also he has got important things wrong such as the concepts astik and nastik. These are Sanskrit words with a definite meaning and should not have been distorted by Rajiv since he claims to be fighting for dharmic cause. Astik means one who believes in and studies Vedas, Nastik is one who does not. Swastik means one who has made intense self-effort to be a Vedic student. He also keeps bragging about how he has ‘coined phrases’ such as U-Turn and Open Architecture. These are not phrases to be coined. They are just maybe figures of speech which anyone can use in any context. They are not a theory. Do India and Sanatan dharma need get worked up about Rajiv with his low level and idiocy? It is good that he is fighting for dharma but he is not humble. On a personal level he taunts people for not being like him and acts as if everyone ought to fall at his feet and be grateful that he is fighting for dharma while according to him others are selfishly lazing. Hindus should be strong and not follow every Tom, Dick, Rajiv and Pied Piper like rats.
I thought there was something very fishy about Sagarika ghosh attacking Rajiv Malhotra in her blog, calling him ‘self appointed hinduwadi’ or something to that effect. Comments to her blog were being blocked. This article puts her attack in perspective and exposes the agenda of the anti indians.
Nice article atanu -who can doubt integrity and hard work of Rajiv Malhotra. It is quite other way actually, people who throw such flimsy charges -who have filled chairs of social-science positions related with India in India, USA and several other countries -are the ones whose integrity is today in doubt. They are trying to protect a complete lie which was promoted by Jones (jones hypothesis- an attempt to manipulate timeline in our country by at least 1200 years ) and max muller (aryan invasion hypothesis- made without any evidence ) to start a dark age in our country during british time(by destroying our education system and creating a gap in our ancient knowledge (macaulayism) – quite a bit of it very deliberately). The dark age has continued all these years too promoted similarly by feudal families who ruled our country (families which own most of political parties and news -media organizations- they used a very deformed extremist form of secularism as a tool in India to keep their rule intact in almost the same manner as in pakistan feudal rulers and army top are using extremists and terrorists as tool to keep their rule intact. The focus is on diverting attention from their mismanagement and corruption by using such extreme forms and acts). Michel Witzel is the big boss and grandfatherly feudal ruler who rules over all such generation of extremist views in formal history studied in our schools ,universities etc.. Most academic in india also work under his and similar other people’s dikatats. We do not study today in this our dark age our own history in our formal circles and academic institutions-in fact we try to destroy what ever evidence is there to study our won history. We study our history as a eurocentric history which has nothing to do with records in our country and events which took place here. It is very difficult to fight such “lathaits” of feudal rulers who rule over us today. Rajiv Malhotra is among very few who has tried to bring back some light to remove our darkness in this dark period.
So no doubt all such characters will use all possible techniques to defame him. It is question of their loosing one of the main tools, which they use to keep their feudal rule intact. What you wrote (paragraph copied below) describes exactly the hollowness of their allegations and shows how desperate they are.
” His opponents have failed to counter his thesis and in their desperation have had to resort to serious harassments. Having neither the facts nor the analytical skills to counter the thesis, they are reduced to idiotically pounding the metaphorical table in their frustration. If charges of plagiarism is the best offensive weapon they have, they deserve pity and maybe even a little bit of sympathy.”

These debased flying monkeys, and their white masters and the christian-commie vermins should be Thankful that MODI or Targets like Rajiv Malhotra are presently prevailing. I know that the Hindus these toxic vermins are trying to corner. LATEST SALVO FROM ITALIANPOTLICKERS = IPLs being that Pulp writer Chetan Bhagat is actually giving rise to a Hindu Backlash which will emerge in time, surely and which is much more radical in all aspects that all the vermins will be wiped off, all 1000 years. Just waiting for that day to arrive. These same vermins, Christi-Commie terrorist IPLs never dared to attack Bal Thackrey in same manner as they attack MODI, because they know the odds AND even the shit insects, the vermins value their degenerate lives
“Indians are also involved in this petty attack against India.” – Very Correct, after all we are tolerating two worst vermins, Christians and the Murder arm of Western Christianity, called Communism, the Multiheaded Hydra of Vatican.

If anybody criticising rajiv is paid, then people supporting rajiv must be paid as well. So stop being childish, apologise on genuine lapse, and discuss the serious points rajiv raises. You cannot revive dharma only on twitter, Vivekananda was acknowledged by scholars all over. He had power of logic and didn’t need to criticise western conventions. He used their conventions to defeat their logic on many things. Vivekananda was not a coward or a frog in the well.
How many critics of Rajiv Malhotra do you know of and how many of them are accused as paid? And who taught you that charge of plagiarism is a criticism?
“He had power of logic and didn’t need to criticise western conventions. He used their conventions to defeat their logic on many things. ”
Vivekananda did not write any material of academic value by western convention in the first place to use those conventions or defeat “their” logic.
With such vague understanding and nonsensical views you teach “intellectual kshAtra”.
‘Plagiarism’ is a poisonous word, and used for academic witch-hunts. On the other hand, lifting passages more-or-less verbatim without quotes (not citations are not enough) is a serious transgression of established convention.
Where RM fails is to say explicitly that he flouts these conventions, or that this was a mistake while editing.
“Where RM fails is to say explicitly that he flouts these conventions”
Yes. As I understand he set out with the premise of following those and now he realizes that it is not fully followed yet it is actually okay to not follow so he is standing his ground 🙂 And that since who he quoted is not himself original it is okay to remove even those where he is credited. All on hindsight only.
“All on hindsight” is another name for clutching at straws to rationalize the plagiarism / transgression of conventions (intentional or otherwise), which even supporters like you accept. Will you be kind enough to now list use cases in which it is fair to plagiarize? For example, if somebody else has plagiarized, it is okay to plagiarize their writing, and so on 🙂 And waking up to Nicholson’s plagiarism after RFY’s charge is a serious commentary on RM’s scholarship. An apology would have been less damaging!
Was that reply meant to you? You retreated when I asked you questions and now come back to try smart.
You are right. But if you read Mr. RM’s work, then you know that he has cited well. Second, this followers are like Vivekananda’s followers. Driven by dharma. Although if you read Vivekandana’s works, he does criticise the west in many places. But you must also understand that times change. Kala, time, people need to work accordingly. Today, speaking against the west is so hard because that ideology has become very pervasive. It is considered rational and logical and ‘universal’. Even young children in India learn english rather than their languages and are supposed to feel proud of knowing english. We have already done away with our own greetings and several rituals. Commercialization, as a rational way has reached every aspect of our lives. So, it is important to jolt the public. If we keep sleeping then it will be too late. I only recently found out about Mr. RM’s work. But if you see, there are several organisations now working on the same idea and many people directly questioning the left and western scholarship. Besides, it is important to criticise those who undermine Indic traditions and have ulterior motives.
> Even young children in India learn english rather than their languages and are supposed to feel proud of knowing english.
This is not the fault of the West; it is of the Indians. To fault diseases for killing someone with a immune-system disorder is perhaps not very wise.
You are right, but I was pointing towards the complex that Indians have about their own languages and the high significance they have placed on english even within their own country.
Most of those who are criticizing “Rajiv” instead of Rajiv’s works in his position fall into 3 categories:
1) Academics with entrenched positions in universities – who have paychecks, six figure grants, reputations, university honor badges, doctoral student followers, travel perks to global conferences. Addressing Rajiv’s charges of their mutual admiration cartels will be damaging to all these material prospects?
2) There are any number of half literate Indian media _columnists_, who believe that anyone who challenges views antithetic to traditional view of Hindu dharma is branded a religious fascist or Hindutvawadi first and then attributed political positions that have nothing to do with the intellectual position. I have underlined the word ‘columnists’ – for the word ‘journalists’ is a mis-attribution to these ‘opinion sellers’, who regurgitate one another’s spit endlessly without even caring to inform themselves. Role of journalists is to inform people with boots on the ground on events as they are happening. But people like Mihir Simon Sarma, Sandeep Roy, Sagarika Ghose are simply propagandists from the echo chambers of Hindu bashers. One should be impressed with the string of circular citations of authority among themselves, without ever touching the issues at hand. At a different level, if one applies these standards of intellect to other spheres of life – say something like building a computer, a rocket or a power plant, it will be a serious disaster. I find it amazing one can even make a living out of writing opinions columns like these. Just like there are consumers of mindless bollywood entertainment trash willing to pay, it could be well that these media houses believe that there are consumers of anti intellectual rants from these propagandist writers, most of whom perhaps can not even write a sentence in any Indian language, let alone Sanskrit. You should check whether these opinion-makers are paid by the respective media houses or not. A majority of them have gone on to proclaim that Young Fox is a celebrated scholar and historian (some even attributed him to Princeton University) without even bothering to check who he is.
3) A number of common Indians with anti Hindu leanings, who choose to inform themsleves about Hindu Dharma from tertiary and quaterenary sources instead of the primary and secondary sources. What they are looking for is a confirmation and endorsement of their positions from someone in a position of ‘authority’ – it does not matter what the authority might – (s)he may be a bollywood star, or a business tycoon, or an anti India terrorist. These guys and gals do not get paid, but pay to keep the opinion makers in service
Does anyone know who attributed name HINDU to our Dharma?
So, basically you question the motive of people who identified the missing quotation marks? A thief then can argue that Indian penal code was inspired by British and catching him would be motivated by British colonialism . Stealing is stealing irrespective of who does it. This is a stupid argument Rajiv supporters are using. Better apologise and move on so that his more valid ideas can be discussed without the shadow of plagiarism.
FYI there were 30 quotations. You lie in the pretext of telling the truth. Anyway if you would have taken substantive aspect of the work you would already done something to revive the knowledge system. Your scoere is zero. It puts you in the category of sepoy.
Even rajiv acknowledges there were misses so I’m not lying. And please keep your imaginary chor sepoy book cricket to yourself. I’m a student of Nyaya and Vedanta, and need no certificate from the likes of you. NAyamAtmA gyAnhinena labhya, so read and remember na-anritam! You are more a hurdle to traditional scholarship by defending plagiarism. Apologise and move on, the West can be criticised on many parameters but not by plagiarising
If there is plagiarization then PRESS CHARGES and lets fight it out in the legal system, there is no point in trying to squeeze out an apology based on moral grounds, you think your case is strong, it took you approx two years to notice it, SO STOP THIS PATHETIC CRY OF APOLOGIZE APOLOGIZE…..
> Apologise and move on, the West can be criticised on many parameters but not by plagiarising
This, yes! I’m annoyed by the many people here who think that lifting passages verbatim without quotes is acceptable.
you can apologize to your pay master!
That’s the best intellectual kshatriya giri you could do? Seems that these kshatriyas are the kind that lost the battles in history and not the ones like vivekananda, who won admiration and respect all over without having to plagiarise. With kshatriyas like these, I’m afraid the Ghoris will win again.
Are you sure that Vivekananda didn’t plagiarize, the whole neo-hinduism thesis is built around the world’s biggest plagiarization of christian and westerm ideas by Vivekananda to create a political syndicated hinduism to unite Bharat to fight against british ?
Don’t you think you are taking too much latitude here, refuting your jamaat’s principal claim.
At least kshatriyas fought battles to defend honor and lives, many were won and some were lost. Ghoris are long gone and staying in their tenured rooms plagiarizing, only sepois are excited about their rants!
Elst ?
Why apologize why not press charges for theft of intellectual property ?
And stop patronizing others, you are no better than anyone, just a human being that is as weak and pathetic as one can be.
You are using Vivekananda’s name to coverup your anti-bharat face, but you can’t fool people all the time with this false attempt of trying to build a credible face by saying that “I am a student of Vedanta and Nyaya, and I am concerned for Bharat”, your face is exposed in these few comments you made to any even slightly vigilant reader.
Your Jamaat stole everything you have to speak about on Bharat from the Bhartiya pandits and now they claims it as their own that’s plagirism, author is dead so, stealing is okay, seems okay in your world.
You are a student of Vedanta, but you can’t even accept the truth about the simple thing that your idols like Nicholson has been cited as many as 30 times in Rajiv’s book so how does it become stealing.
Anyway no amount of reasoning will go through you head, so drop everything.
I advice you to urge your idols Richard Fox Young and Sheldon POllock OR NIcholson to take the matter to court, that Rajiv Malhotra has stolen and plagerized Nicholson’s original ideas ? stop demanding apologies when you are so sure of the wrongdoing.
WE DON”T SEE ANY PLAGARISM IN INDRA’S NET and WE DON’T ACCEPT YOUR CONTENTION THAT WE SHOULD APOLOGIZE. why is it so hard for you to accept that people in this world have different views than yourself and they must not all be forced to accept your view.
“A thief then can argue that Indian penal code was inspired by British and catching him would be motivated by British colonialism”
Do you realize that Indian judiciary’s judgments and recommendations to legislators DO depend on such arguments of defenders of “thieves” in courts and the debate of validity of each law is not uncommon?
25 years ago, Rajiv Malhotra started investigating, researching,
writing, protesting and exposing this whole anti-Hindu gang in Western
Academia who were having a free ride in belittling to demonizing Indic
Civilzation, Culture and Dharma Traditions.
Rajiv Malhotra did not
start writing books to earn a Professorship or as a hobby to become
famous. The truth is, Mr. Malhotra closed his successful businesses at
the age 44 and has been fighting this war for the past 25 years,
spending million of dollars from his own pocket. His main aim was, is
and will remain to defend Dharma and expose all those unethical
academicians in Western Academia who were demonizing ‘everything Indian”
to show Indian Civilization in a bad light.
Western crooks in
academia are feeling the heat, are threatened that their dishonesty and
misdeeds are getting exposed day by day. Hence, they have started this
campaign to defame people like Mr. Malhotra and are trying to block
their research from publication.
Here is history of Westerners (outsiders) studying India and Indians:
How Western academia studies Indian Civilization, Sanskriti and Dharma
Traditions has its framework rooted in how and why the Europeans
“Outsiders” started studying Indians (‘insiders’) centuries ago. Here
is something to contemplate upon. “A friend of mine is Professor and
Head of the Department of Sanskrit at a major U.S. University, and a
world renowned Indologist. He is a white Caucasian American. He told me
something interesting,”The study of Indology was commissioned by the
early colonials with an explicitly stated and recorded two point agenda:
1) to prove to the Indians that we, the Christian Europeans, are
superior, 2) to understand the Indians better so that they could be
controlled effectively.
Since then, The resulting body of knowledge
about India, its History and culture, philosophy and its sciences, is
undeniably euro-centric, prejudiced, tampered, altered, and contains
too many instances of willful omissions, commissions, disinformation,
lies, half-truths all cleverly engineered to fulfill the two prime
directives outlined above.” – Dr. Krishna Kant Shukla.
Your quote is very wise. I recommend reading Dharampal’s books,
https://archive.org/details/DharampalCollectedWritingsIn5Volumes
The lefties in India somehow managed to completely ignore his works and still manage to call themselves ‘Historians’.
Thank you for the link and your comment.
I have read some of Dharmpal ji papers but will certainly go thru more texts in the link that you shared.
Thank you again.
I agree with you on this misinterpretation of History by Commie-Secular-Christo-Islamic lobby for the past 6 decades.
We have a much bigger challenge and our path is steep but finally we have a chance to ‘right’ the wrongs.
Stay blessed my friend!
Excellent article, congratulations to IndiaFacts.
Bravo … the first time I heard of this plagiarism charge … i shrugged it off, simply because to me as an Indian the facts and intellectual arguments presented by Rajiv Malhotra are more important than the accusation of plagiarism leveled against him. I am glad that Rajiv Malhotra has subsequently proven that the accusations are wrong and without any merit.
Rajiv Mehrotra is a bold and imaginative writer and his views are serious forays into academic Indoilogy.
Had enough of taking crap from the Westerners on our religion & our culture. Time to take the battle to them and to their paid Indian lackeys.
Appreciate indiafacts for putting dharma above their relation with Malhotra and standing by the right side.
I however don’t understand why in a serious topic like this we should even talk of scum like FP calumnists and dilute the case. Indian knowledge has been systematically plagiarized for two centuries, and most of what the white western xtians wrote about Hinduism as well as a bulk of their industrial and post-industrial “knowledge” revolution is a consequence of theft. So use the current plagiarism nonsense to take the attack to the home of the enemy, the whole western indology. Ignore filth like popular Indian media who are largely illiterate and henchmen of semi-literate whites.
There is no attack, and if your child goes for writing any serious paper, they will have to stick to these western traditions on plagiarism. Try using your independent notions of plagiarism anywhere outside the crackpot side of Internet you’ll be laughed at even in India. Next you’ll reject the western way of surgery or writing software codes. Apologise for genuine mistake and move on. Be a real intellectual kshatriya who can think. Otherwise you’ll remain the shooting mob who are always laughed at.
So if you accept your defeat you are a true intellectual kshatriya? Why don’t you first try not to be loyal to truth first and to prevalent norm later? Norm is built by force, and if you have already conceded your defeat what kind of kshatriya are you?
The true kshatriya is honorable and truthful enough to admit mistakes. Stupid kshatriyas will stake everything to minor issues and go die in battle claiming it was ‘glorious’. There is no glory in being defeated by minor issues. Truth is rajiv plagiarised and by questioning norms you are becoming a childish outsider to serious discourse. You’ll continue to be ignored by any serious organization and all valid points by rajiv will always bear the stigma of plagiarism. Only stupid kshatriya aim to die in the battle. Smart kshatriyas fight to win.
I think you should ask the historians of Analytical Psychology why Carl Jung plagiarized and didn’t have the “intellectual kshatriyatva” to accept it. Listen here, plagiarism and IPR were originally created by the West, that could not draw the line between inspiration and shameless lifting, to safeguard stolen “pagan” knowledge. We Bhartiyas never had the concept of plagiarism. We always thought that knowledge was a public good (We, unlike the immature White folks, always thought that knowledge, that is linguistic in nature, was at once ours and not ours. Think!). It was standard practice to quote the assumptions of the opponent before critiquing that person. Know some stuff before opening your Sepoy gob. You claim: “the true kshatriya is honorable and truthful enough to admit mistakes. Stupid kshatriyas will stake everything to minor issues and go die in battle claiming it was ‘glorious’.”———— that is exactly what the White pseudo-intellectuals have been doing for the past 200 years. And you, Sir/Madam, who are seriously found wanting in Brahmanatva as well as in Kshatriyatva, are an even bigger charlatan defending the White grave robbers.
Carl Jung most definitely gave credit to India. Rajiv is a liar. Just look on the internet and see for yourself instead of relying on second hand information. Fighting for dharma should not involve lying to this extent or else it kills the very purpose.
Kevin, talking of Rajiv and his research, one can understand the anxiety on your part. Alright, since you said that, let me quote what Jung himself said on his famous archetypes. Here, what Jung does is exposed in a scholarly manner by Rajiv in his U-turn theory. The trick is to steal from India and give it a Greek twist. Check this out: Jung says : “According to the Eastern view, karma implies
a sort of psychic theory of heredity based on the hypothesis of reincarnation.
[…] We may cautiously accept the idea of karma only if we understand it as
psychic heredity in the very widest sense of the word. Psychic heredity does
exist—that is to say, there is inheritance of psychic characteristics such as
predisposition to disease, traits of character, special gifts and so forth. […]
These are the universal dispositions of the mind, and they are to be understood
as analogous to ———– Plato’s forms (eidola), in accordance with which the
mind organizes its contents. […] As the products of imagination are always in
essence visual, their forms must, from the outset, have the character of images
and moreover of typical images which is why, ——-following St. Augustine——–, I call
them “archetypes”. » “————————– There is Plato, St.Augustine, but no Kundalini, no Patanjali. One has to remember that these words were uttered by Jung after his visit to India. So, I am afraid you are wrong.
While I’m all for Rajiv and admire his efforts. Below link I’ve copied clearly states that Jung always gave credit. Everytime its not necessary for a person to shout from roof tops that he has taken info from Hinduism. Jung was one of the really sincere ones who admitted that he was influenced by eastern thought. What more do you want? It should not be confused with the blatant plagiarism done by some others. Please see http://www.hinduwisdom.info for an account of the westerners who were influenced in similar manner. Examples Madame Blavatsky, Schoppenhauer. One cannot tar all with same brush.
http://www.hinduismtoday.com/modules/smartsection/item.php?itemid=462
‘Carl Jung’s systematizer, Jacobi, almost completely ignored or concealed his debt to Indian concepts, perhaps fearing Eastern references would erode scientific respectability. It was left to Dr. Coward to bring forth the facts. He writes: “Jung himself clearly credits karma theory with the filling in of his notion of archetypes…” Jung lectured in the 1930’s on Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, on kundalini yoga and the Tibetian Book of the Dead. “Concerning Rebirth” was his 1940 lecture on the Buddha’s experience of a long sequence of rebirths.’
Really? Where exactly is “truth” in your assertion of mistake in the first place? You are assuming on an authoritarian basis and NOT on the basis of truth. So I repeat: Norm is built by force, and if you have already conceded your defeat what kind of kshatriya are you?

He has provide 30 references. Get your facts right. Your are product of the knowledge system which rationalizes 3 million killing of Iraqis and 100 thousand killing in Libya. You will serve the humanity, if you try to do an academic research on these.

He has 30 references. You are the product of the education which has already started rationalizing 3 million killing in Iraq and 100K killing in Libya. To be taken seriously ask your masters to do some true research on there.
But the ridiculous and hypocritical nature of the plagiarism charge is that Malhotra DID provide 40 references in his book to the work of Andrew J Nicholson so clearly this young follow who BTW is an old timer at throwing poop on hinduism is following the strategy of his paymasters and chums…doniger`s children and clearly the tactic of the attack is because they can`t challenge malhotra on his analytical work, they just want to throw poop and see how much it sticks.
If the viciousness and personal nature of the remarks from richard fox young and the unfounded allegations, is not an attack then WHAT THE HELL IS IT, BONEHEAD???
Also, the fact that Malhotra has managed to rattle and earned the wrath the top echelons of christian dominated gang of “indologists“is proof that he is on the RIGHT track!!
Also, before you get too carried away, based on the “western“ tradition of plagiarism, these western indologists have committed and have been committing serious fraud by stealing and appropriating ideas and learning from their Indian gurus without acknowledging them at all in their work and just because it gets published in some english journal, does not make the idea or the work theirs…it should be properly acknowledged where they got the idea from. This is plagiarism according to their own definition!!
A very good comment Globalaryan -describing exactly as the situation is.
Yeah, I think he should’ve accepted the mistake and fixed it in the next issue. Resorting to chest-thumping was a silly thing to do (as you should be able to tell, for कालो त्वमऽसि ?).
kAlo’smi lokakshayakrta pravrddho etc. He happens to be the kuladeva; from Him I rise. purnAt purnamudachyate 🙂
I like the latter part of the verse पूर्मस्य पूर्णमादाय पूर्णमेव अवशिष्यते – reminds me of Cantor’s work 🙂
Not a mathematician, hence took some Googling to link the infinite sets (?) to the shlokah. You can link it to lifting passages as well – purnasya purnamAdAya. 🙂
Yes. There is a theorem which says that ‘countable union of countable sets is countable’. This is more in line with पूर्णात् पूर्णमुदच्यते।
The proposition implied by the latter is actually false – removing a countable set from a countable set does not necessarily leave behind a countable set. However, if you remove any countable number of countable sets from an uncountable one, it remains uncountable 🙂
A good response to the nonsense allegations….generated merely to gain attention before RM’s new book.
