Facts of Gujarat Riots Cases
The Gujarat sessions court judgement of 26 December 2013 in many ways has pulled the curtains down one of the most motivated witch hunts against one man: the three term Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Equally, the Gujarat 2002 riots cases have prolonged for about the same duration. In the wake of the current judgement, IndiaFacts presents a timeline snapshot of some of the major riots cases and the verdict of various courts that tried the cases.

The figures used are from govt agencies, some of which were in snooze mode during the riots.fact is atleast more than 3000 muslims were killed.the no of Hindus killed is just one tenth of the number reported. the figures were exaggerated just to show Modi in a balanced manner.
FIRs were not filed in many cases. thanks to the relentless struggles of few NGOs, some of the victims did get justice. And it had nothing to do with the efforts of the Modi govt. other than sabotaging the investigation process that govt did nothing.The Supreme court even remarked as Modi as the new age Nero.numerous cases were transferred outside gujarat to maharastra. The first time it happened in Independent India. This itself showed the breakdown of law and order in that state.
What followed is a venomous campaign by the BJP which was vicious and communal with a simple reason to incite hatred against Muslims.The modi govt dissolved the assembly so as to take full advantage of the communal atmosphere in the state.It was the most communal and oppurtunist decision when people were still living in relief camps in abhorable conditions. The EC refused and then they went to the SC which directed them to remove people from the relief camps.
They then tried to close down all camps with a vengeance.People were literally thrown out into the roads and were warned of dire consequences.It was with impunity a state acted just to put innocent and poor people to more misery.The vengeance was comparable to the way Hitler acted against the Jews.
Lastly the case is not closed yet.neither is the verdict final.There is an option of Zakia Jafri filing an appeal in the SC.Moreover the amicus curiae had said there was enough evidence to implicate Modi. The lack of trust of the SC on SIT led to the appointment of an amicus curiae.The organised manner in which modi bhakts try to distort facts is appalling.
